Literacy and Line Art

Dear Families,

The week concluded with our first Author's Chair. This where each student presents a piece they have published during Writer's Workshop to their classmates. Even in these early pieces, the Huckleberries are already showing great growth. What an exciting precedent for the school year!

This week we also had two visitors. Mrs. Fety was back on Monday to help each student sew their name on to their book bag. Each Huckleberry got to use the sewing machine to zigzag! Then on Tuesday my sister, Ms. Fety came for the day. She shared some of her knowledge of scientific observation and reading with the Huckleberries.

Upcoming events and volunteer opportunities:

- Literacy Picnic and Family BBQ Thursday, September 26th 5:00 - After enjoying some feasting, families can choose three stations. There will be activities where students can show off what they are learning, try out different tools, and learn about literary resources you can use at home. After three stations, there will be prizes every participant can choose. Hope to see you all there!

- School Pictures Thursday, September 26th - Huckleberry North individual pictures

Friday, September 27th - sibling group pictures and volunteer photos

- Tie-Dye Wednesday, October 2nd - To get ready for the Jog-a-thon I need your help making tie-dye shirts! Help will be needed from about 8:00 am to about 10:00 am. The different jobs are preparing the dye baths, helping students with the rubber bands, cleaning up, and one very kind person to take home the shirts to wash. The more help the better! If you are interested in helping, please email me to let me know.

- Sharing Topic: Fall - This is our first thematic sharing. Your student is welcome to bring something for the sharing party on Friday related to the theme of Fall. However, please help them leave toys at home.

Best,

-Ms. Fety
