Salmon

Dear Families,

This past week was all about salmon. The Huckleberries recorded all they learned about salmon, stuffed and sewed salmon pillows, and watched salmon hatch. On Wednesday, Mrs. Fety visited the classroom. She helped the Huckleberries thoroughly stuff their salmon pillows and taught them the figure-eight stitch. This sewing technique results in a secure and smooth closure. The results are magnificent!

In our aquarium, so many alevin have been hatching. Here is one hatching!

By the end of the day on Friday, there were so many alevin bumping around on the rocky bottom on the tank. We have so many we can no longer count them.

Next week we begin thinking about our third migratory species, caribou.

Important Information:

* Snack Sign-Up: We are nearing the end of who has signed-up for snack. If you have not yet signed-up, please do. HERE is the link.

* Field Trip: Tuesday, December 17th. With our salmon progressing so well through their life cycle, we will soon need to release them into the river. If you are interested in driving students for our salmon release field trip, please email me.

All my best,

-Ms. Fety
